Course Maps

Start Line

All distances start and finish near the canopy bridge.

Start Time

  • The Half Marathon will start at 8:00 am, and the 8.5km and 4km will begin at 8:05 am

  • To increase safety on course the start times will be staggered by order of category entered, i.e. runners, then fast walkers, then casual walkers.

  • Before the start, you will be directed into the start chute.

  • Please listen carefully to officials for instructions.

Gear Drop

There will be an option available for participants to store gear at the start/finish area while out on course. Gear can be left at the registration tent which is located at the Town Basin Canopy Bridge. All gear must be clearly labelled with your event number. You will need to present your event number to collect your gear. While all reasonable care is taken of gear, Sport Northland is not responsible for any lost or damaged items. Please do not leave valuables.

Aid Stations 

Half Marathon

  • There will be drink stations on the course approximately every 3kms with water. R-Line will also be available at selected drink stations.

  • There will be toilets at the start/finish areas and on course. Approx. every 5km

8.5km

 

  • There are four water fountains situated around the loop for you to use including a drink station offering R-Line electrolyte at approx.

  • There will be toilets at the start/finish areas and approx—2km and 6km into the course.

4km

 

  • There are four water fountains situated around the loop for you to use.

  • There will be toilets at the start/finish areas and approx—2km into the course.

Timing and results 

  • The event will use a timing system.

  • All participants will have their time recorded by an electronic strip connected to the back of their event number.

  • It is your responsibility to ensure that you are wearing the event number that has been registered to you.

  • Please do not mix these up with other participants.

  • Gun time will be used for official results.

Awards Ceremony

  • Place getters are acknowledged at the finish area at approximately 10:10 am

  • There will be a spot prize tent at the finish area. All participants can go to the spot prize tent to try their luck and see if they have won a spot prize. Check to see if your number is showing on the spot prize board. If it is then you are a winner.

  • Entrants for all events are eligible for spot prizes.

Bib collection

If you entered as a super early bird or early bird entrant and opted for postage, then your race number will be posted out. If you opted to collect your race number see organised pickup location below.

  • Pickup location: Sport Northland – 97 Western Hills Drive, Kensington, Whangarei

  • Pick up date & time: 9 September 2021 at 8.00am – 5.30pm

  • All participants who enter after the cut-off for postage (approx. 21 days out) will need to collect their race number as per the organised location above.

  • If you missed bib collection, you can collect your bib number from the start line on race day. Allow plenty of time so you don't miss the start!

Event Safety Information

  • Prams are allowed on the 4km & 8.5km.

  • No DOGS

  • No SKATEBOARDS OR SCOOTERS OR BIKES

  • The event is held on public roads. Always treat all roads as open and expect oncoming and overtaking traffic.

  • Please obey all traffic laws and regulations.

  • Take extreme care when approaching driveways and side roads – expect vehicles.

  • Where there is a lane coned for participants, you are always required to remain within the cones.

  • Marshals will be wearing high-visibility vests and are there for your safety. Always follow their instructions and those of the event organisers.

  • There will be a lead bike preceding the first participant (for the on-road section of the course) and a tail marshal following the last participant. If assistance is required, please stop and wait for the tail marshal or notify the nearest marshal.

  • No animals (except guide dogs) are permitted to accompany participants during the event.

  • Footpaths and footbridges are to be used where available.

  • Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Cancellation

 

In the unlikely event of cancellation notice will be given on Northland’s More FM 91.6 and on our Facebook Page. Where possible attempts will be made to email participants, who have supplied an email address with their entry. While we will endeavour to make a decision to cancel an event as early as possible due to the nature of such events situations can occur quickly and without warning close to the start of an event.
